Chandigarh: Gulab Chand Kataria visits health centres, interacts with staff, patients

Felicitates healthcare workers for their service and commitment to improving public health services in the city

Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria visited the upgraded Ayushman Arogya Mandirs (AAMs) health centres in the city on Tuesday.

The visit was part of the nationwide observance marking the transformation of health and wellness centres into Ayushman Arogya Mandirs under the Ayushman Bharat initiative.

During the visit to the health centres at Maloya, Sector 35, Makhan Majra and Raipur Kalan, the Administrator reviewed the infrastructure, service delivery and digital health integration. Kataria also interacted with patients, who had come for routine check-up and consultation, and enquired about the quality, accessibility and overall experience of services being availed by them at the health centres.

He interacted with the Community Health Officers and staff to understand the range of free services being provided, including non-communicable disease screenings, telemedicine consultations, maternal and child healthcare, and provision of essential medicines and diagnostics.

Kataria expressed satisfaction over the effective outreach of the health centres in bringing quality primary healthcare closer to the community.

Following the site visits, a felicitation ceremony was organised at the UT Secretariat, where Kataria recognised the invaluable contribution of the healthcare workers engaged in delivering services under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. He felicitated the Community Health Officers, ANMs, pharmacists and laboratory technicians for their dedicated service and commitment to improving public health services in the city.

Kataria presented certificates of appreciation to the awardees and commended them for being the backbone of India’s preventive and curative health care delivery system.
