Chandigarh, November 18
As many as 80 dancers of Shobhaniya Kala Kendra, Ludhiana, presented a spectacular kathak dance bonanza ‘ Rass’ under the aegis of Pracheen Kala Kendra.
The dance was choreographed by Purva, the foremost daughter disciple of Shobha Koser, an Sangeet Natak Akademi awardee.
The dancers opened up with ‘Ganesh stuti’ before an ‘ashtapadi’ before delineating intricacies of kathak with captivating and graceful movements and fine-footwork followed by a ‘maand’ and concluded with a duet performance based on ‘thumri’ bols ‘Albela sajan aayo re’ amid thunderous applause.
Purva gave an entrancing dance spell of Jaipur ‘gharana’ before a dance ballet ‘khushi’ in ‘abhinaya’ aspect of kathak.
Shobha Koser, along with Sajal Koser, honoured the artistes.
