KB DAV, Chandigarh

Class XI students of KB DAV celebrated ‘Malala Day’. An ‘Interview with Malala’ gave the learners an opportunity to peep into the life of Malala Yousafzai, her struggles and her views about education as a tool to empower girls. A quiz on ‘Malala’s Life’ kept the audience riveted. Principal Pooja Prakash spoke about the need for counting our blessings, learning from the struggles of those less fortunate and being a good human being.

Sri Guru Harkrishan Public, Chandigarh

Sri Guru Harkrishan Public School, Sector 40-C, held a workshop for its language departments. Anil Gugnani from the SCERT, Chandigarh, was the resource person for the workshop. He interacted with teachers about how to make use of all three languages to make students competent in applying the languages confidently and creatively. Teachers participated in the workshop enthusiastically.

DC Model, Panchkula

Students of DC Model School brought laurels by winning various cultural competitions during the 28th Mango Mela at Yadavindra Gardens in Pinjore. Falak and Shalini Dubey won the first and second positions, respectively, in face-painting competition. Swasti Tripathi won the first position in the solo dance competition. Kanav won the second position in the drawing competition in the senior category. Kanav and Falak won positions in the mango-eating competition. The Director of the school congratulated the winners and applauded their efforts.

St Soldier, Mohali

St Soldier International Convent School, Phase 7, organised an awareness workshop to enlighten the young NCC cadets regarding the ill-effects of overpopulation under the supervision of Commanding Officer Col Manu Solanki from 3PBC(I) C0Y, Ropar, NCC.

AKSIPS-65, Mohali

A poster-making competition was organised for Classes IV and V at AKSIPS-65 to celebrate World Population Day. Students displayed their artistic skills through an array of posters. Divanshi bagged the first position, Gurjot Singh got the second position and Rishabh won the third position.

Ryan International, Mohali

A poetry composition and recitation competition on nature was conducted at Ryan International School, Mohali, for the students of Class XII and X. Different types of poems have different components. This enabled students to learn how to put words together to form meaning and context.

Sky World, Panchkula

Sky World School held an investiture for the new student council. Head boy Bhumit Kaushik, head girl Kishika Arora and head prefect Chehak Khattar, along with 18 office-bearers, were told about their responsibility. The ceremony began with the unfurling of the school flag. Council members were honoured with badges and sashes by Principal Santosh Bhandari and co-ordinators. The student council took the pledge to hold the school motto in high esteem.

Saupin's School, Panchkula

Resource person Dr Jyoti apprised the students of the pre-primary wing about the symptoms of various mosquito-borne diseases and precautions to be taken during the rainy season. Measures such as mosquito nets, repellents, consumption of boiled water and avoiding outside food were also discussed.
