Forty five years old Harbans Singh, who lives near Arya College, has tested positive for swine flu. According to the information, the District Health Department informed the Civil Hospital, Kharar, after Harbanas Singh was found suffering from the disease two days ago.
As soon as the information reached the Health Department, officials surveyed the area. People who were in contact with the patient were given necessary medicines.
When asked about the case, the SMO, Kharar Civil Hospital, Dr Surinder Singh, said three members of patient’s family were given medicine and necessary instructions. The people living in the area were also checked, he added.
When the Civil Surgeon, Mohali, Dr Rita Bhardwaj, was asked about the present situation she said there were nine patients, who tested positive for swine flu in the district, including Harbans of Kharar. All these people had been given treatment, she added.
As many as 70 to 80 patients, who were suspected to be suffering from swine flu, were also treated, she said. “The department is keeping complete check in the district in this regard,” she said.
