Kings XI give Rs 25 lakh to Pulwama martyrs’ families

CHANDIGARH:Kings XI Punjab, in association with the Rotary Club, on Tuesday gave away cheques worth Rs 5 lakh each to the families of five CRPF jawans who lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack last month.

Kings XI Punjab, in association with the Rotary Club, on Tuesday gave away cheques worth Rs 5 lakh each to the families of five CRPF jawans who lost their lives in the Pulwama terror attack last month.

The five CRPF jawans, who were a part of the 78-vehicles convoy that came under attack in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on February 14, include Jaimal Singh from Dharamkot, Moga, Sukhjinder Singh from Tehsil Patti in Taran Taran, Maninder Singh Attri from Dinanagar in Gurdaspur, Kulwinder Singh from Anandpur Sahib in Rupnagar and Tilak Raj from Kangra in Himachal Pradesh.

“We are extremely grateful to have partnered with the Rotary Club of Chandigarh for this project. They have helped us connect with the families of brave jawans who put their lives on the line every single day for us and we, as a team, would like to stand behind and honour their sacrifice,” said Kings XI head of operations Anant Sarkaria.

Rotary Club Chandigarh president AP Singh said: “Three years ago we had initiated the project of sending 5,000kg sweets every Diwali to the jawans at the border and we are grateful to KXIP for making us a vehicle of doing good for the Pulwama martyrs as well.”

Rotary district governor Praveen Goyal and Kings XI captain R Ashwin and players Mayank Agarwal and Mandeep Singh were also present on the occasion.

Senior DIG, CRPF (Punjab), VK Kaundal was also a part of the event.
