A leopard killed two goats in Bhudi village of Morni block around 10 am today.

Rajinder, a resident of the village, said the leopard appeared out of nowhere. “Villagers were working in the fields when the leopard attacked two goats. We tried to scare the animal away by hurling stones, but it killed both goats and took away one of the carcasses,” he said.

The villagers said they were scared and feeling insecure.

A local resident said, “We spotted the leopard in the area earlier as well and are scared of venturing out during the night. The presence of the leopard in the area poses a threat to our children.” She demanded that the administration should trap the wild animal at the earliest.

Surjeet, Wildlife Inspector, Panchkula, said the office received information about the incident. “The leopard attacked and killed two domestic animals. A sub-inspector of the Wildlife Department visited the area and took stock of the situation. The carcass of the goat left behind by the leopard has been sent for a post-mortem examination. The family will be compensated for the loss.”
