Lightning claims girl’s life at Sukhna

CHANDIGARH:A 19-year-old girl, who had arrived at Sukhna Lake with her friends, died after being struck by lightning on August 15.



Chandigarh, August 16 

A 19-year-old girl, who had arrived at Sukhna Lake with her friends, died after being struck by lightning on August 15. There was a large number of people at the spot, who were left shocked after the incident.  

The police said the victim had been identified as Tamanna, a resident of Dera Bassi. 

She had arrived at the lake with her friends. The police said as soon as she reached a few metres ahead of the police post at Sukhna Lake, lightning struck her, leaving her unconscious. The incident was reported around 4 pm.  

Visitors and cops present at the lake rushed to the rescue of the victim, who was taken to the GMSH-16, where doctors declared her brought dead.  —TNS
