Mohali: The lockdown apparently had no effect on the first day as people continued to move out of their houses on Saturday. During a random survey, it was found that people, especially youngsters, were driving motorcycles and scooters, along with pillion riders, in violation of the rules. However, the movement from the neighbouring Chandigarh and other areas was restricted as the district police had set up barricades to check the entry of vehicles. Meanwhile, the police forced the owners of shops of non-essential commodities to close the establishments by 5 pm while shops of essential items were closed by 7 pm.
