Chandigarh: Students of Eco Club of AKSIPS-41 Smart School, Chandigarh, enthusiastically participated in a rally to spread awareness about Swacch Bharat Abhiyan under the theme "Prakriti Paryavaran aur Hum".

AKSIPS-41 Smart School

Chandigarh: Students of Eco Club of AKSIPS-41 Smart School, Chandigarh, enthusiastically participated in a rally to spread awareness about Swacch Bharat Abhiyan under the theme "Prakriti Paryavaran aur Hum". Around 50 students carrying colourful banners and posters went to Sector 17 Plaza spreading the message of keeping our surroundings and country clean.

Gian Jyoti Global School

Mohali: Gian Jyoti Global School, Mohali, celebrated Lohri festival with boundless joy and fervor on its campus in Phase II, Mohali. The celebrations began with a special assembly wherein teachers of the school enlightened the students about the history and importance of Lohri festival. Principal Ranjeet Bedi performed "Lohri Pujan" and lit up the bonfire by offering some "rewaries", popcorn, sesame seeds and "gur" to the fire as per the Lohri tradition. Lohri sweets were also distributed to all during the celebration. Students presented bhangra and gidha on the occasion.

Bhavan Vidyalaya

Chandigarh: The auspicious harvest festival of Lohri was celebrated with much cheer and excitement at Bhavan Vidyalaya, Sector 27, Chandigarh. The school was absorbed in the festive spirit and warmth of bonhomie. "Lohri Pujan" commenced with the traditional lighting of the holy fire by Principal Vineeta Arora with teachers going around the bonfire amidst the chanting of 'Sunder munderiye". It was followed by the distribution of traditional goodies such as groundnuts, "rewari" and "gachak".

PML SD Public School

Chandigarh: Lohri, the harvest festival of Punjab, was celebrated with great fervor in 'Petals', the Primary Wing of PML SD Public School, Chandigarh. Children came in colourful Punjabi dresses and had a gala time around bonfire. They danced on Punjabi numbers and sang songs highlighting the Lohri spirit.

St Joseph's Sr Sec School

Chandigarh: Lohri was celebrated with zeal and enthusiasm at St Joseph's Sr Sec School, Sector 44, Chandigarh. Folk dance was presented by students on the occasion. Peanuts, "rewari", popcorns etc. were distributed among the students.

St Soldier Int'l Convent School

Mohali: Lohri was celebrated at St Soldier International Convent School, Mohali. Chairman Karnail Singh Brar lit the bonfire and students of Class I presented a skit, followed by bhangra and giddha which mesmerised one and all. Lohri goodies were distributed among all students and staff members of the school amidst students singing Sunder Munderiye. A group of Class VIII students distributed Lohri goodies among the children from slum area in Phase VIII B, Industrial Area, which the school has adopted. The highlight of the Lohri celebration was a two-year-old child Prabhkirat Singh of Play Group who mesmerised one and all with his drum beats.

Blue Bird High School

Panchkula: Lohri festival was celebrated with religious fervor at Blue Bird High School, Panchkula. Students of Classes IX and X and teachers sang traditional songs of Lohri and danced around the bonfire. Popcorns, groundnuts and snacks were distributed. These were really fun-filled moments. Principal Vandna Bhatnagar wished everyone happy Lohri. — TNS
