For the third consecutive year, the Badminton Association of India (BAI) has entrusted former international coach and Chandigarh-based Surinder Mahajan as the senior lecturer for the BAI Coaches Development Programme (grassroots level course), scheduled to be held at Raipur, Chhattisgarh, from today. Mahajan is also the member of the Administrator’s Standing Council for Sports in Chandigarh. Earlier, he attended similar campus programme last year in Feburary and July, wherein more than 100 budding coaches got training under him.
Mahajan, who is currently serving as the senior vice-president (Administration) Chandigarh Badminton Association, and joint secretary, Badminton Association of India, had earlier headed BAI coaching development programme for amateur coaches as an expert. The camp will start from April 18, and will be attended by many budding coaches of the nation.
“It’s a great honour to train budding coaches and future torch-bearers of badminton. I will be serving as a senior lecturer for this programme and syllabus instructor,” said Mahajan.
