Man arrested for sexually harassing niece

Chandigarh, February 15

A man has been arrested for sexually exploiting his 14-year-old niece.

Sources said the accused, a resident of Sector 25, had tried to rape his niece while he was in an inebriated condition. The accused, who stays near the victim’s house, used to frequently visit her house. Around a month ago, the accused visited her house in an inebriated condition and after finding the victim alone, he tried to rape her.

The victim raised the alarm, following which neighbours rushed to her house.

The victim’s family was also informed about the incident but the matter was hushed up.

Later, the victim narrated the entire incident to her school teacher, who then informed the Child helpline which further informed the police.

A case was registered against the accused at the Sector 11 police station and he was arrested.
