The police arrested a person with three country-made pistols, four magazines and 20 live cartridges from the Raipur Rani bus stand late last night.
The suspect has been identified as Abhishek, alias Rajat, a resident of Umarpur village in Shamli district (UP).
The police said two persons were sitting in a car at the Raipur Rani bus stand. After seeing the police, one of the occupants came out of the vehicle and fled from the spot.
The police said Sub-Inspector Kashmira Singh, Tarsem Kumar, Jaswinder Sing, Ravisher and Ram Pal caught hold of another youth sitting on the driver’s seat.
During the search, the police recovered three country-made pistols, four magazines and 20 live cartridges from his possession. The suspect failed to produce arms licence.
The police said the absconding person, who was yet to be nabbed, had been identified as Parikshit Rana, a resident of Sultanpur near Barwala.
A case under the Arms Act has been registered against the suspects. Abhishek was produced before a court today, which remanded him in three-day police custody.
The police were investigating as to whom the suspects were planning to target in the area.
