Mohali: Man booked under IT Act for circulating defamatory email against woman

The police have booked a person under the IT Act and other sections for circulating an alleged defamatory email against a woman employee to a private university officials.

It was alleged that the suspect had sent the email alleging sexual harassment of an employee by a senior manager on March 24, 2025. The internal complaints committee of the university had negated the charges. A case under Sections 240, 79, 212 and 356 (1) of the BNS and the IT Act has been registered.
