He was also sentenced to two years’ RI and a fine of Rs 2,000 under Section 506 of the IPC. In case of non-payment of the fine, he would have to undergo additional simple imprisonment. Both sentences would run concurrently.
The case stems from an FIR registered at the Women’s Police Station, Panchkula, on October 8, 2019. The complainant, the girl’s mother, alleged that on October 7, 2019, while she was working at home, her neighbour attempted to molest her 10-year-old daughter. When she resisted, the accused assaulted her and threatened to kill her. The accused was arrested on October 9, 2019. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime.
