Fatehgarh Sahib, August 5

A man and his son were killed when a speeding truck hit the motorcycle they were riding near Malko Majra village on the Sirhind-Bhadson road. The deceased have been identified as Ranjit Singh (40) of Khewa Khurd village in Mansa district, and his son Balkaran Singh (11).

Ranjit’s wife Charanjit Kaur (36) and daughter Sheenu (5), who were also on the motorcycle, were severely injured in the accident.

Assistant Sub-inspector Jaswinder Singh of the Sirhind police station said the family was returning home after paying obeisance at the Mata Nayana Devi shrine. When they reached near Malko Majra village, a speeding truck, coming from the Bhadson side, rammed the bike.

The four members of the family were rushed to the local Civil Hospital where the doctors declared Ranjit and his dead on arrival. Charanjit and Sheenu were referred to a government hospital in Chandigarh. The truck driver sped away, the ASI added

The police have registered a case against an unknown truck driver.
