Mayor Joshi lays stone for Rs 63L water pipeline project

Mayor of Chandigarh Saurabh Joshi today laid the foundation stone for the work related to replacement of the existing cast iron water supply pipeline with a new ductile iron pipeline in Sector 24-C. The project has been sanctioned at an estimated cost of Rs 63.78 lakh.

The project envisages shifting of the existing water supply pipeline from the back courtyards of houses to the front side, thereby improving accessibility, maintenance and reliability of the water supply network.

The Mayor further said that the Municipal Corporatino, Chandigarh, was undertaking development works across different parts of the city with a focussed approach towards upgrading civic infrastructure and improving public amenities.

He directed the officers concerned to ensure strict adherence to prescribed quality standards and timely completion of the project, while ensuring minimum inconvenience to residents during the execution of the work.

Joshi also inaugurated the construction work of a new public toilet near Valmiki Temple at Ramlila Ground, Sector 24-C, Chandigarh, in the presence of Municipal Corporation officials, local residents, representatives of resident welfare associations and members of the Dussehra Committee.

The new public toilet facility is being constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 14.66 lakh. The facility is expected to be completed within three months.
