Chandigarh MC plans annual parking pass at discounted rates
Chandigarh Administrator Kataria had proposed the annual parking pass for Rs 4,000
To give further relief to residents, the Chandigarh Municipal Corporation is considering launching an annual parking pass at discounted rates. Punjab Governor and Chandigarh Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria had proposed the annual parking pass for Rs 4,000 at the Rose Festival inauguration.
On January 27, the MC, in collaboration with the Bank of Baroda, had launched the ‘MC One Pass’ for parking across the sites managed by the civic body. The initiative is designed to modernise the parking system by providing a seamless, cashless and fully digital parking solution for residents and commuters. The monthly parking pass is available for Rs 250 (two-wheelers) and Rs 500 (four-wheelers).
An MC officer said going by the current rates, an annual parking pass for a four-wheeler will cost Rs 6,000. But it will be offered at a discounted rate, as suggested by the Governor. The annual pass will also be available at a discount rate for two-wheelers.
The monthly MC One Pass is valid across all parking sites managed by the MC. People can easily generate their monthly pass by scanning a QR code available on the websites of the MC and the Bank of Baroda. These QR codes have also been displayed at parking sites.
