The Kharar Municipal Council has decided to construct a sport stadium in Chajju Majra village in the memory of Amanpreet Kaur Sidhu, a trainee pilot who died in a plane crash in Telangana in October.
Kaur belonged to the same village and died when the plane in which she was undergoing flying training crashed in Telangana on October 6.
A resolution regarding the same was passed in a meeting of the Municipal Council held here today under the presidentship of Anju Chander. Kharar MLA Kanwar Sandhu also participated in the meeting.
According to the resolution, the sports stadium would be constructed by the council in the land owned by the council in the village. Heated arguements were exchanged between members of the council during the meeting.
It was also decided to construct the retaining wall and toilet block at Government High School in Desumajra village which collapsed at the time when sewer pipes were being laid there.
Councillor Kamal Kishore Kala alleged that sewer water has been overflowing for the past one year in his ward but no action was being taken by the authorities concerned. Karnail Singh Kelly demanded that Badala road should be repaired before the starting of Shaheedi Jor Mela at Fatehgarh Sahib. In the meeting many resolutions regarding various development works were also passed.
