MC wakes up, covers manholes

After Chandigarh Tribune highlighted the issue of several manholes and road gullies lying open in the city, the Municipal Corporation has got its act together and has started covering them.

One of the major spots, a 20-foot-deep hole in Sector 34-A, which posed a threat to passersby, especially students of coaching institutes, was covered today. Some open road gullies were also covered. “I have directed the officials concerned to cover all open manholes. They have started the work. If we get information on more such spots, we will cover these too, “ said a senior MC official.
