Mohali: Minerva Punjab FC on Friday signed Brazilian striker Robert de Souza for the upcoming I-League season. The 27-year-old left-footed player had won the Golden Boot in the Brazil’s 2nd division league last season. “I’m very happy to sign for this club. Chandigarh: Vinod Kumar Vashishta of Audit General Punjab won the veterans’ title on the concluding day of the IA&AD North Zone Carrom Tournament here on Friday. Vashishta defeated Raju Kapoor of Delhi Audit ‘B’ in the final. In the women’s final, Geeta R Sankar of Delhi Audit ‘B’ beat her teammate V Radhika to bag the title. Mohammad Naseer of Delhi Audit ‘B’ overcame Khursheed Hasan of Audit General Uttar Pradesh to win the men’s title. Harpreet for US martial art meet
Chandigarh: Mixed Martial Artist Harpreet Kaur from Sunam in Sangrur will compete in the senior category (55-60kg) in Santa Clara County, California, on September 15. The 27-year-old has won nine international and 15 national medals and is a Black Belt Ni-dan. The championship is organized by Naga American Grapling Association (Naga). Harpreet is being trained by Munish Kumar in-charge of Mixed Martial Arts in Punjab. TNS
