Panchkula, July 1
The administration has imposed a complete ban on mining activities in the district from July 1 to September 15. Deputy Commissioner Mahavir Kaushik has directed the officials concerned to conduct raids in their respective areas and submit a report.
Kaushik said the Haryana Government was serious about stopping illegal mining. It was the intention of the government that illegal mining did not take place in any district of the state, he added.
The officers should crack down on illegal mining and wherever any case comes to the fore, strict action be taken by registering an FIR against suspects and vehicles impounded.
Kaushik directed the officials concerned to form a team comprising the SDM of Kalka, the ACP-Kalka, the Mining Officer and the BDPO of Pinjore for the Kalka subdivision area. Similarly, to check illegal mining in the Panchkula area, joint teams of the SDM of Panchkula, the ACP, the Mining Officer; and the Tehsildar, SHO and Mining Inspector concerned in the Raipur Rani area will be formed. The DC was apprised that mining was allowed only at four places in the district. No mining is allowed at any place in Kalka.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Surinder Pal Singh, SDM of Kalka Ruchi Singh Bedi, District Mining Officer Omdutt Sharma, Regional Officer, Pollution Control Board, Virendra Singh Punia; Naib Tehsildar Hardev Singh were also present at the meeting.
