Punjab minister inaugurates Rs 300-crore dairy feed plant in Mandi Gobindgarh
Says the government committed to provide all possible support to industrial investors
Punjab Industry Minister Sanjeev Arora has said that under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, state is witnessing increased investment across sectors under the Invest Punjab initiative, which will generate employment and accelerate economic growth.
He said Punjab was emerging as a preferred destination for investment in agriculture and food processing sectors due to industry-friendly policies and a peaceful working environment.
He said, “Efforts are on to make Punjab a leading industrial state in the country. The state government is committed to providing all possible support to industrial investors.”
Answering a query regarding rising industrial gas prices, the minister said the state would coordinate with the National Green Tribunal to allow the use of coal in industry in accordance with the prescribed norms, on the pattern of other states.
He had come here to inaugurate Rs 300-crore dairy feed plant set up by Cargill Private Limited at the industrial park in Wazirabad, Mandi Gobindgarh.
He said the project, established over 15 acres with an annual production capacity of four lakh metric tonnes, was among the largest dairy feed plants in South Asia. He said this was Cargill’s second unit in Punjab after Bathinda and reflects growing investor confidence in the state under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann.
He said, “Punjab will soon emerge as a leading supplier of milk to other states, just as it currently supplies foodgrain. The project could generate employment for around 1,000 youth in the region. The new plant will significantly benefit farmers, particularly dairy producers, by ensuring local availability of high-quality cattle feed. With improved access to quality feed, milk yield and quality are expected to improve, strengthening the dairy sector and enhancing farmers’ income.”
Fatehgarh Sahib MLA Lakhbir Singh Rai, Deputy Commissioner Dr Sona Thind, Additional Deputy Commissioner Pooja Syal Grewal and Cargill India president Ravinder Balen also addressed the gathering on the occasion.
