Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa demands sub-tehsil status for Lalru
Expresses hope that the government will soon fulfil long-standing demand of the people
Dera Bassi MLA Kuljit Singh Randhawa raised demand for the creation of a sub-tehsil in Lalru city during the ongoing session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha. He said during the recent meeting held with the Lalru Trade Board, traders and city residents had demanded creation of a sub-tehsil in Lalru. Keeping this demand in mind, he placed this matter in the Vidhan Sabha.
Randhawa said the people of Lalru and nearby areas had to travel far for their revenue related work, due to which they faced a lot of problems. He said if sub-tehsil was created in Lalru, then thousands of people of the area would get a big relief.
Speaking in the Vidhan Sabha, Randhawa said the population of Dera Bassi Vidhan Sabha constituency was around 15 lakh. He said, “I can claim that my constituency has the highest population out of 117 constituencies in the state.” He also said that the area where the demand for sub-tehsil had been raised had around 40 villages, two cities and a population of more than one lakh, which meets the criteria of sub-tehsil. He expressed hope that the government would soon fulfil this long-standing demand of the people.
