Mock drills held to review emergency preparedness

Chandigarh, January 25

To counter terrorist infiltration and as an anti-sabotage measure, the UT police today conducted mock drills to review emergency preparedness.

The mock drills were conducted in Sector 17 here. An information was received at 12.24 pm that a suspicious black bag was found near gate no. 7 at the Parade Ground in Sector 17. Several police teams reached the spot and conducted an operation. Later, it was revealed that it was a mock drill.

Similarly, another call was received at 12.58 pm that there is a terrorist attack at the Old District Courts in Sector 17.

Test response call

To check the alertness and response time of officials in case of emergency, a test call was made at 3.24 am by Jaswinder Singh, night checking officer, that an unknown person ran away after leaving a bag near the rear wall of the RBI building, Sector 17. All responding parties, including night SHO, night checking officer and PCR vehicle reached the spot at 3.31 am.
