Highlighting drug abuse as the most pressing challenge facing Chandigarh and Punjab, Punjab Governor and UT Administrator Gulab Chand Kataria called for innovative and stronger measures to effectively combat this menace.
The Administrator, accompanied by UT Chief Secretary H Rajesh Prasad, today laid the foundation stones for two state-of-the-art police stations at IT Park and Mauli Jagran.
The Governor said both projects aligned with the vision of “Future-Ready Chandigarh 2030 and Beyond” and underscored the Administration’s commitment to citizen-centric, responsive and modern policing.
The IT Park and Mauli Jagran police stations will be constructed at an estimated cost of Rs 9.81 crore and Rs 19.51 crore, respectively. They will be equipped with modern facilities, including women help desks, separate lock-ups and barracks for men and women, interrogation rooms, armoury, conference halls, canteens, parking facilities and barrier-free access to persons with disabilities.
The buildings will have provision for rainwater harvesting and solar lighting.
