The Mohali administration will inquire into the viral outbreak at Plaksha University in Sector 101 on Monday, officials said.

Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Viraj C Tidke said he had contacted the university authorities and asked them to submit a report on the happenings in the university since August 21.

"We will be seeking a report from them on Monday. They should have informed the local administration and the Health Department if such a situation had arisen," he said.

Meanwhile, classes at the university campus will resume from Monday, too. Plaksha University's spokesperson said, "Most of these students have already recovered or are on the way to making a full recovery. In the last two days, only one case of cold has been reported. We are in touch with the authorities concerned, including the Health Department."

Around 40 students complained of cold, sore throat and fever-like symptoms. As many as 13 students were given the choice to go home, of which one returned Covid positive.

University authorities believed it to be common cold and flu-like symptoms due to the monsoon but did not comment on its confirmation.

According to the university officials, between August 21 and September 6, around 40 students reported cold, cough and fever symptoms. The classes were moved to an online mode as a precautionary measure to break the chain. "Classes were moved online from Wednesday and offline classes are resuming from Monday," a university official said.
