Mohali girl alleges police inaction

MOHALI: A Mohali-based 20-year-old girl accused the local police of inaction in a case against her former boyfriend, who has defamed her by posting her obscene photos on social networking sites.

A Mohali-based 20-year-old girl accused the local police of inaction in a case against her former boyfriend, who has defamed her by posting her obscene photos on social networking sites.

The victim, an engineering student, alleged that even after the registration of a case in this regard in December at the Mataur police station here, the police are taking no action in this regard. The victim has been tweeting in this regard continuously, requesting Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Punjab Police top functionaries to help her in getting justice. So far, she has tweeted at least 100 times.

The victim alleged that she has been threatened by the accused, identified as Sushant Kumar, continuously, but the police had been doing nothing.

In her complaint, the victim alleged that she remained friend of the accused for almost one year in Patna. After their break-up, the accused started harassing her and later he started posting her obscene photos and videos on social networking sites.

The victim alleged that despite contacting the local police several times to take action against the accused, nothing had been done so far.

The local police have booked the accused under Sections 67, 67-A of the IT Act and Sections 354-D, 506 and 509 of the IPC at the Mataur police station.

“Investigations are on in the case. Action will be taken in this regard soon,” said a senior police official.
