Fortis Hospital, where Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann was admitted last evening, and 16 private schools in Mohali and Dera Bassi were targeted by a foreign-based terrorist organisation with a bomb threat, sending school authorities and police into a tizzy around 8 am today.

It later turned out to be a hoax call. Unlike last time when majority of schools were vacated and students sent home, this time police and administration handled the situation in a better way as no evacuation was done.

Senior police officials said as examinations were underway at many schools, the situation was dealt carefully. Following a bomb threat received via email on the official IDs of a school, a thorough search was conducted at Fortis Hospital, but nothing suspicious was found.

Following thorough inspections, no suspicious substance or object was found, the SP said, while confirming that the threat appeared to be a hoax and the situation was completely under control.

SP Dilpreet Singh added that further investigation into the source of the email is currently underway. Meanwhile, the public has been urged to remain calm and cooperate with the authorities. The SP also appealed to citizens to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station without delay.
