Mohali, July 17

After the arrest of Dilpreet Singh ‘Baba’, now the Mohali police are conducting raids to nab his accomplice Gaurav Patial, alias Lucky.

“Lucky is on the top bracket of ‘wanted list’ of the Mohali police as he had jumped parole in Saudagar murder case in which the local court had awarded him life sentence. Besides, in the Gurjant, aka Jenta, murder case in the town, Lucky had jumped the bail and has been declared a proclaimed offender by the local court,” said a senior police official, adding that at least five different cases have been registered against him in Mohali.

Notably, 31-year-old Saudagar Singh, a resident of Landran and a kabaddi player, was axed to death in full public view outside the District Courts premises in Phase 3B1 on May 22, 2012. Lucky was among six persons, who were awarded life imprisonment in the case. Lucky was also convicted in Gurjant Singh, aka Jenta, murder case. Jenta was killed at Kambali village by nine armed persons on July 7, 2014, following enmity. One more case of attempt to murder was registered against him at the Mataur police station in 2014.

According to the police, Lucky was the person who had taken Rs 20 lakh from Punjabi singer Parmish Verma after an attack on him around three months ago.

“Lucky was also one of the four attackers and most probably he and Baba had opened fire on Parmish and his friend Kulwant Singh Chahal on the intervening night of April 13 and 14,” said the official.

The official said of the total Rs 20 lakh, he had given around Rs 10 lakh to Baba and also made threatening calls to another Punjabi actor and singer at behest of Baba. “Both criminals were at loggerheads after this,” said the official.
