Gursher Singh, DSP

More than 50 challans were issued to violators in the market and around 10 vehicles were impounded during the drive on Thursday night.

Teams of the Mataur police station and the Phase 1 police station led by DSP (City 1) Gursher Singh conducted checking of all vehicles in the market for continuous three hours last night.

DSP Gursher Singh said more than 50 challans were issued to violators in the market and around 10 vehicles were impounded during the drive last night.

Notably, the Phase 3B2 market is one of the busiest markets of the town. Youth can be seen roaming around in the market on their vehicles as well as on foot. This area is known as “gedi route of Mohali” among youth.

“Several eve-teasing incidents were reported from the market in the recent past. So, we decided to keep a check on miscreants disturbing the atmosphere of the market. The cops will remain deployed in the market in the coming days also to maintain tight security. Our objective is to stop eve-teasing here,” said the DSP. — TNS
