Mohali SSP Chahal suspends ASI

Mohali Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal has placed an Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Guraman Singh under suspension.

The SSP said the cop was suspended following misbehaviour with public. The Assistant Sub-Inspectorwas posted at Phase 1 police station.

“I am yet to receive a complaint from anybody in this regard. The Assistant Sub-Inspector was first sent to the Police Lines . Now, he is put under suspension,” said the SSP.

Sources said Gurnam had demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 from Arvind Gautam, a resident of Phase 1 and member of a Hindu religious outfit, to release keys of his office which the former had taken along in a case of recovery of four liquor boxes from his tenant’s room.

Gautam had also approached the Vigilance Bureau against the Assistant Sub-Inspector, but somehow the trap could not be laid, claimed sources.

The SSP said facts in regard to demanding bribe by the ASIwere also being verified.
