Mohali, November 30
The Mohali administration will approach the Punjab and Haryana High Court to seek directions on providing compensation for plots to the owners of the 98 structures to be demolished as these came up in the restricted area around the Chandigarh Air Force Station/airport.
Talking about the issue, Mohali Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said the structures that came up in the restricted area within the radius of 100 metres of the Air Force Station boundary wall after March 9, 2011, had to be demolished as per the High Court orders. However, the administration had to take directions on giving compensation for the plots/land to the owners of the 98 structures.
Dayalan said he had heard out the owners of the structures recently. “During the hearings, the owners demanded compensation for their plots they had purchased. Now, we want to take their demand to the High Court, which has already issued directions to demolish the structures within a stipulated period,” said Dayalan.
It is to be noted that the owners of the structures have also filed a petition in the High Court in this regard.
