Despite Panjab University authorities approving an Rs 12.5 lakh ex-gratia for the family of Aditya Thakur who was stabbed to death on campus, a hunger strike started by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) demanding resignations of the campus authorities entered its second day.

“As the administration remains indifferent and unresponsive, today Prince Chaudhary and Saksham Sharma joined the hunger strike, strengthening the ongoing student movement. As of now, five students are on indefinite hunger strike including, Prakhar Singh Paliwal, Abhishek Garg, Kuldeep, Prince Chaudhary and Saksham Sharma, “ read an commune by the JAC.

The committee is demanding immediate removal of the Dean Student Welfare (DSW) and Chief of Security, a fair and transparent investigation into lapses in student safety, restoration of an inclusive and accountable campus security system and a respectful and open dialogue with the student community.
