MP’s Jatin moves into second round of tennis tournament in Chandigarh

Jatin Malvia of Madhya Pradesh faced a neck-and-neck competition from Haryana’s Aarav Kamboj before sailing into the boys’ U-16 second (main draw) round at the ongoing Roots-AITA Challenge Series National Ranking Tennis Championship.

Jatin won the opening set 6-1, but come down crashing in the next 4-6. In the final set, he played sensibly and posted a 6-4 win.

Punjab’s Arnav Verma also marched ahead by defeating Haryana’s Aryan Nehra. Arnav had lost the opener 5-7, but bounced back with a 6-3 6-3 verdict. Punjab’s Arsh Singh also won a tough battle against Haryana’s Sumohit Beniwal with the match decided in the 7-6(9) tie-break.

Shahnaz Singh of West Bengal sailed into the next round by defeating Punjab’s Aarav Saini 6-2 6-2, and Chandigarh’s Arnav Singh defeated Haryana’s Daksh Kamboj 6-4 6-1.

Ikshaan Deep, also from Chandigarh, posted a 6-4 6-3 win over Aradhya Sharma, while Haryana’s Abhiraj Narwal got the better of Jai Bhasin 6-1 6-2.

Ansh Sharma of Punjab defeated Aarav Saxena of Madhya Pradesh 6-2 6-3 and Chandigarh’s Ruhaan Hambaria outplayed Aarav Bansal 6-2 6-2.

In the final round of the boys’ U-18 category, Haryana’s Mohit Singh stunned Tanveer Singh of Punjab 6-1 6-2 while Chandigarh’s Arnav defeated Shauryaveer Chaudhary 7-6(4) 6-0. Shaurya Sharma of Uttar Pradesh posted an easy 6-0 6-3 win over Punjab’s Gurnawaz Singh and Haryana’s Aaryaveer Chaudhary defeated Daksh Sharma 6-0 6-1.
