Chandigarh, May 8

BJP’s national council member Sanjay Tandon has urged party president JP Nadda to increase the oxygen quota for Chandigarh.

Taking note of the growing Covid-19 cases in the city, Tandon briefed Nadda that Chandigarh was witnessing an average of 700 new cases every day. At present, there are more than 8,000 positive cases in the city, he said.

On the basis of population and area, among the UTs, Chandigarh’s figures are alarming and oxygen quota should be increased for the city in a planned manner, he said.

Tandon also told Nadda that experts opined Covid-19 would touch its peak in mid-May. In such a situation, Chandigarh needs additional oxygen, he asserted.

Tandon urged Nadda to intervene and increase the oxygen quota for Chandigarh through the Union Health Ministry.

Nadda, meanwhile, assured Tandon of taking up the matter with the Health Ministry.
