Names of 66,147 voters struck off Chandigarh draft electoral roll

The names of 66,147 voters in the Chandigarh parliamentary constituency have not been included in the draft electoral roll published today as per the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) conducted under the enumeration phase from June 15 to July 14.

According to the UT Election Department, there were 5,16,427 registered electors at the commencement of the SIR and 4,50,280 enumeration forms (87.19%) were collected and digitised. Out of the 66,147 voters whose enumeration forms remained uncollected, 43,725 (66.10%) have shifted permanently and 12,568 (19.00%) were found absent during the enumeration exercise. As many as 3,535 electors (5.34%) were found dead, 2,590 (3.91%) duplicate votes were detected and 3,729 (5.63%) voters failed to submit forms due to other reasons.

The final status of these electors will be determined following scrutiny by the electoral registration officers (EROs) and assistant EROs concerned. The names of genuine electors may be added back to the electoral roll during the claims and objections period from July 21 to August 20. Citizens whose names did not appear in the draft electoral roll can submit their claims, along with the prescribed declaration and supporting documents, for inclusion of their names in the electoral roll.

Of the 4,50,280 enumeration forms reconciled for mapping, 3,80,821 electors were linked with the last SIR through self-mapping or progeny mapping, while the remaining 69,459 electors submitted enumeration forms without any linkage to the last SIR, stated the officials.

The draft electoral roll is available on the website www.ceochandigarh.gov.in, and on the citizen portal at voters.eci.gov.in.

Further, notices will be issued to electors who have not submitted the prescribed declaration during the SIR and to those whose electoral records contain anomalies. Citizens requiring any assistance may contact the Voter Helpline No. 1950 or avail the “Book a Call Request with BLO” facility available on the ECINET mobile application.

Disposal of claims and objections will be undertaken from July 21 to September 18. Following the special summary revision process, the final electoral roll will be published on September 22.
