Taking online services to another level, the Administration has waived MDR charges on online payment on the Sampark portal and has also launched a new mode of online payment via the Bhim-UPI QR code.
Now, people will have to pay nil transaction charges while making electricity and water payments or property tax through Net banking, debit cards and credit cards of any bank at www.sampark. chd.nic.in. Those who are into mobile banking and do not want to use their debit or credit cards can make payments through Bhim UPI by scanning the QR code through their mobile using the Bhim/UPI mobile app of any bank with nil transaction charges.
These new facilities were launched by VP Singh Badnore, Punjab Governor and UT Administrator, today in the presence of Parimal Rai, Adviser to the Administrator.
MDR or any other charge will not be levied on people or the department and the facility will be extended to the public through the Axis payment gateway, which is the banker to facilitate services of the Sampark project. This move will boost cashless transactions by encouraging more people to opt for digital transaction.
Earlier, to make an online payment, people were levied Rs 10 as transaction charges for Internet banking, 0.90 per cent transaction charges for a payment above Rs 2,000 through debit card and 1 per cent transaction charges for a payment through credit card.
