The operations of the domestic schedule commercial airlines have been stopped with effect from Tuesday midnight at the Chandigarh International Airport in Mohali.
“All airlines have been asked to plan their operations so as to land at their destinations before Tuesday midnight,” said Prince Dildar, spokesperson of Chandigarh International Airport Limited.
He added that several flights had been cancelled on Monday due to Covid-19 threat. These include Delhi-Chandigarh-Chandigarh, Chandigarh-Pune, Chandigarh-Ahmedabad and Chandigarh-Kullu flights.
The spokesperson added that to prevent the spread of COVID-2019, a number of precautionary measures had been taken by the authorities at the local airport.
“Passengers have advised to check the status of their flights before leaving for the airport. Today, all passengers were requested to maintain adequate distance in the waiting area by keeping one seat vacant. Similarly, adequate distance was maintained from each other near X-ray machines and baggage belts,” said Prince Dildar, adding that for the convenience of passengers, adequate staff was also deployed at the check-in counters and during security checks.
Sanitisers were provided for staff and passengers at the entry of the aircrafts.
