The Chandigarh Education Department has announced revised school timings for government, private and government-aided schools in view of persistent foggy weather conditions.

According to the latest orders, there will be no physical classes for students up to Class VIII and non-board classes (IX and XI) till January 17. However, schools can conduct online classes from 9 am onwards and adjust staff timings accordingly. For classes X and XII, schools can operate from 9.30 am to 3.30 pm.

This is the third time the department has regulated school timings, with previous extensions till January 10 and January 13.

The decision aims to prioritise student safety amid dense fog and cold weather, which has disrupted daily life in Chandigarh. The Administration will continue monitoring weather conditions and may adjust timings further if needed.
