An NRI and owner of Rehaan Records Company, which produces Punjabi music videos, has received voice messages in which the gangster, suspected to be Sukhpreet Singh, alias Budha, has threatened him for approaching the police. The gangster said if the victim tried to play smart, they would double the extortion money.

Sandeep Rehaan, a resident of Canada, is presently on a tour to the city and Punjab along with Punjabi singers Karan Aujala and Deep Jandu.

The gangster made an internet call on Rehaan’s mobile phone and demanded Rs 20 lakh as extortion. The call was received on March 16, after which the police were informed about it. Police sources said the gangster, who is wanted by the Punjab Police, sent some voice messages to Rehaan after he approached the police.

In the voice messages, the gangster stated, “Kinne din police tenu bachaugi, assi India ya Canada kithe nahin rehn devaange (for how long will cops save you, we won’t let u live in India or Canada).”

In another voice message, the gangster also threatened to double the extortion money. Sources said the two singers and Rehaan had at least three more shows at clubs in the city, besides Punjab.

The UT and the Punjab Police have stepped up the security at the hotel in Sector 35 where Rehaan and the two singers are putting up.

Cops even provided security to all three during a show held at Boulevard in Sector 26 on March 17. Sources said they would be in the city till mid April.

Sukhpreet aided attack on Parmish Verma

Sources said Dilpreet Singh, alias Baba, and Sukhpreet had been close associates. Dilpreet was accompanied by Sukhpreet, one Lucky and Akash when they had shot at Punjabi singer Parmish Verma in Mohali last year. Later, a joint team of the Punjab Police and the UT Police had nabbed Dilpreet outside the ISBT, Sector 43, after an encounter.
