Panchkula, July 22
The 21-year-old woman, who was gangraped in the Morni area two days ago, was given a Rs 50 note by one of the two offenders, believed to be a cop, who wrote his cellphone number on it with the victim’s lipstick. A photo of the note, recovered by the victim’s husband while washing clothes, is with the Panchkula police.
Talking to Chandigarh Tribune, he said cops investigating the case had visited their residence and taken a photo of the note. “The original one is with me. I found it with my wife’s clothes.”
The victim recalled: “When I told Sunny (the key accused and owner of Lovely Guest House) that I would approach the police, he threatened me with dire consequences. He introduced me to three persons. He said they were with the Dera Bassi police. Two of them raped me. Thereafter, they made me board a bus. One of them gave me a Rs 50 note and used my lipstick to write his mobile number on it. I want justice. The culprits should be immediately arrested.” Chandigarh Tribune called on the mobile number several times, but the phone was switched off. In the Truecaller app, the number was registered as “VV” from Haryana.
