The move to administer Covid-19 vaccine at two drive-through centres in the district is receiving an overwhelming response as 904 persons were inoculated today.
Deputy Commissioner Girish Dayalan said 500 persons were vaccinated at Picadillia – The Theatre Café, Mullanpur, New Chandigarh, while 404 were inoculated at the District Sports Complex near Singh Shaheedan Gurdwara in Sohana, Mohali.
In figures
As many as 12,143 healthcare workers (HCWs) have received the first dose, while 6,208 HCWs got the second jab till date. A total of 1,36,903 frontline workers (FLWs) have got the first jab, while 6,557 FLWs have got the second dose. Similarly, 81 891 persons aged above 45 had got the first dose, while 9,015 had received the second dose. As many as 59,535 persons aged 60 and above have got the first dose, while 13,755 had got the second dose.
Dayalan said they were getting good response to the concept of making people sit in their cars and get inoculated without coming out of their vehicle. This was not only saving time of people coming for vaccination but also of the paramedics. It also helped in maintaining social distancing.
It is pertinent to mention here that on the first day, 640 persons were vaccinated at the two drive-through vaccination centres in the district. A total of 1,544 persons have been vaccinated at these two drive-through sites in Mohali.

Though the Punjab government is yet to start vaccination of 18+ officially, 1,078 persons above the age of 18 have been vaccinated till date. Out of this, 537 persons aged above 18 were administered the vaccine on Thursday.
