Chandigarh: A 34-year-old man has been arrested for stealing batteries of e-rickshaw. According to the police, the complainant, Munna, a resident of New Indira Colony, Mani Majra, reported that unknown person stole two batteries from his e-rickshaw on June 5.

A case was registered at the IT Park police station. Later, the police arrested Suraj, a resident of Mauli Complex, in the case. Further investigation in the case are on. TNS

Dayalan is new Mohali DC

Mohali: Girish Dayalan is the new Deputy Commissioner of Mohali. He has replaced Gurpreet Kaur Sapra, who is now the Director, Social Security, Punjab. Dayalan, an 2011-batch IAS officer, was earlier posted as Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, Punjab. He had also served as the Chief Administrator of the Jalandhar Development Authority. Man held for accepting  bribe 

Mohali: The Vigilance Bureau team led by Inspector Tejpal Singh arrested a private typist stationed at a police chowki red-handed while accepting a bribe from a Kharar resident. The accused has been identified as Sarbjit Singh, who was taking bribe on behalf of ASI Kewal Singh, posted in Sunny Enclave, Kharar. In the complaint, Naresh Kumar had claimed that Assistant Sub-Inspector Kewal Singh had demanded a bribe of Rs 10,000 for an official work and the complainant was asked to pay Rs 5,000 of the total amount to Sarbjit Singh. According to the officials, ASI Kewal Singh was on the run and raids were being conducted to nab him. TNS

3 more held for teen’s murder

Mohali: The police have arrested Amit Tiwari, Vivek and a juvenile on Thursday for murdering a 19-year-old boy in Ambedkar Colony, Balongi. The cops had earlier held Chandan and Dilip. Victim Sunny Paswan was found murdered along the Balongi road on May 29. His family had alleged that all the five suspects, who live in the same colony, were behind Sunny’s murder. A case was registered under Section 302 of the IPC. TNS

Dinker new MGA president  

Chandigarh: Dinker Sharma has been unanimously elevated as the president of the Masters Games Association (MGA) Chandigarh during its annual general body meeting, here today. The meeting was held under the chairmanship of KS Bharti. The house also decided to appoint Bharti as general secretary of the association. Panchkula:  Spartans HH defeated Challengers CH by 26 runs in the ongoing Talent Premier League at St Soldier’s School. Winning the toss and opting to bat, Spartans HH posted 104/4 in 15 overs with the help of Utkarsh Rai (26), Pranil Khera (13) and Vansh Rawal (12). Aryan Prashar (2/33) and Himanish Sharma (1/20) were the two main wicket takers for the bowling side. In reply,  Challengers CH scored 78/8 in 15 overs.
