As part of the ongoing FIT India Carnival 2026, the Netaji Subhas National Institute of Sports (NSNIS), Patiala, under the Sports Authority of India, organised a cycle rally on the occasion of International Women’s Day on the second day of the carnival. Varjeet Walia, Deputy Commissioner of Patiala, was the chief guest.
Walia congratulated everyone on the occasion of International Women’s Day and emphasised the importance of women empowerment and an active lifestyle. He encouraged citizens, especially youth and women, to participate in fitness activities regularly. More than 500 participants, including international players, trainees, staff members, and fitness enthusiasts, took part in the rally that covered a distance of around 10 km through the city of Patiala. The DC felicitated four women trainees of weightlifting for their dedication to sports, along with two senior citizens who successfully completed a 51 km cycling ride last Sunday.
