PANCHKULA:Charu Bali, Inspector General, State Vigilance Bureau, has been posted as the new Commissioner of Police, Panchkula, relieving AS Chawla of the said charge.

Charu Bali, Inspector General, State Vigilance Bureau, has been posted as the new Commissioner of Police, Panchkula, relieving AS Chawla of the said charge.

Fortyeight-year-old Charu Bali, a 1995-batch Haryana IPS officer, will be the first woman Police Commissioner of Panchkula.

Bali was awarded a gold medal in MA (Women Studies) during the Panjab 

University convocation in March this year. 

Bali has held various important positions in the state and at the Centre. She has worked on deputation with the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Planning Commission and the UIDAI. In Haryana, she has worked in the Railways, telecommunications and crime wings. 

Bali completed her law degree from the PU in 1994. She did her MA in Women Studies while on study leave. 

Husband was Panchkula SP in 2007-09 

Charu Bali’s IPS husband Sandeep Khirwar was posted as the Panchkula SP between 2007 and 2009. In Tuesday’s transfer, Khirwar, Commissioner of Police, Gurugram, was posted as the Inspector General of Police, Rohtak Range.
