After launching the 24x7 water supply project in Mani Majra, the local municipal corporation (MC) has now awarded the work to upgrade the Kajauli waterworks to an agency in order to provide round the clock supply across the city.

P&R Infrastructure Limited has been awarded the contract for Rs 58.61 crore. The civic body had floated the tender to execute the work by December 2025 at an estimated amount of Rs 67.5 crore.

According to the MC, the pan-city water supply project has two segments — upgrade of Kajauli waterworks and water supply component.

Under the upgradation project, all the existing inefficient pumps in Kajauli will be replaced with energy efficient pumps. Thus, the energy consumption of the pumping machinery will be substantially reduced.

It is expected that a cumulative saving of 181 kWh units per single pump set will lead to overall saving of Rs 5 crore per annum from the power consumption only.

The entire system will be monitored through Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) centre.

Meanwhile, the MC is preparing the tender for the work of water supply component and would invite bids by October this year. The entire project is expected to be completed by March 2029. Under the project, the intermittent supply would be converted into continuous pressurised water supply with enhanced pressure so that it reached the third floor of each house, said MC officials.
