Panchkula: 3 kids die in brick-kiln wall collapse
Three children, aged two, five and nine, were killed at a brick-kiln at Jaspur village, 35 km from Panchkula, in Raipur Rani after a brick wall collapsed on them today.
The deceased have been identified as Rafiya (9), Nishad (5) and Zeeshan (2). The children were taken to the Community Health Centre (CHC), Raipur Rani, where doctors declared two of them dead while the third died during treatment.
The incident took place at Kamla brick-kiln around 11 am where four children were playing while their parents worked at the site.
Ram Prasad, a brick-kiln worker and native of Aligarh in UP, said the children were playing when the wall fell on them. Three of them were grievously hurt while the fourth sustained minor injuries. “We took all of them to the CHC, Raipur Rani,” he added.
Nawab, father of Nishad and Zeeshan, said they were working at the site when the wall fell on four kids all of sudden. “One of them was treated at the CHC,” he said.
Dr Gaurav Prajapati of the CHC said, “Two of the three injured children brought to the hospital, Rafiya and Zeeshan, had already died. The five-year-old had suffered grievous injuries. Mucus and blood had collected in his windpipe. The child died during treatment.” The bodies were brought to the Civil Hospital in Sector 6 for postmortem. The bodies were later handed over to the kin.
