In a bid to improve the traffic system of the district, the Panchkula police have started issuing challans to three-wheeler drivers for overloading their vehicles.

Sharing the information, police officials here said they were carrying out awareness campaigns in the district.

“Instructions have also been issued to traffic police officials to take strict action against individuals violating traffic rules,” a police official said.

According to the cops, auto drivers were found carrying more than the allowed number of passengers.

“Such acts increase the danger of accidents. Therefore, we ran a drive and have issued challans to 25 auto drivers with the help of CCTV cameras in a single day,” the official added.

City Traffic In-charge Inspector Ramkaran said people should lodge complaints with the police on helpline number 7087084433 in case they find drivers violating

traffic rules.
