Panchkula: Two arrested with 625 gm heroin in separate cases

In separate operations, the Crime Branch, Sector 26, and the Anti-Narcotics Cell today arrested two interstate heroin traffickers and recovered 625 gm of heroin, valued at approximately Rs 1.25 crore in the international market.

Both accused were allegedly supplying heroin in the Tricity area from neighbouring states.

On July 14, the Crime Branch, Sector 26, received a tip-off that Vansh Grover (24), who was living in a rented house in Zirakpur, would arrive on the Barwala-Dera Bassi road to deliver large quantity of heroin. The police team reached the spot and arrested the accused. During the search, 321 gm of heroin, worth more than Rs 64 lakh, was recovered from his possession.

The accused is originally from Panipat and was currently living in Zirakpur. A case under the NDPS Act was registered at the Chandimandir police station.

In the second case, Anti-Narcotics Cell arrested a trafficker with 304 gm of Heroin. The police received information that Sunny Singh (44), a resident of Abohar, Fazilka district, was supplying heroin in Panchkula and the Tricity area. He was expected to deliver a consignment near the Chhath Puja site at Ghaggar bridge in Sector 21. Acting on the information, a team led by in-charge Saurav Rawat arrested the accused. The police recovered 304 gm of heroin, one mobile phone and Rs 1,500 from the accused. The recovered heroin is valued at more than Rs 60 lakh in the international market.

A case under the NDPS Act has been registered at the Sector 20 police station, Panchkula.
