All seems not well in Panjab University (PU). While other private universities of the region are performing fairly well in national rankings, the PU is struggling hard to collect data for completing the self-study report (SSR) before the visit of National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC).

The authorities have given a final call to all chairpersons, especially 15 department heads, who have not submitted any report, for compiling data. They have been asked to take this as last warning. — Source, Panjab University

Various sources have confirmed that the PU Dean, university instruction, (DUI) and Dean, research, had chaired a meeting of atleast 15 department heads and chided them for not submitting the proper report.

“The authorities have given a final call to all chairpersons...especially the 15 department heads, who have not submitted any report, for compiling data. They have been asked to take this as last warning and face action in case no report is submitted by them,” said a highly placed source in Panjab University. The meeting was held on Friday afternoon.

In June this year, Panjab University had formed committees to compile the required data for the SSR. From past few months, the university is facing problems in compiling the SSR, which is mandatory for the NAAC accreditation.

During the last visit in 2015, the NAAC had given the university an A-grade with a comprehensive score of 3.35 out of four. The last NAAC accreditation of the Panjab University expired on June 24.

The NAAC’s assessment procedure, includes institutional information for quality assessment (IIQA) prior to the submission of the SSR. The SSR is to be submitted 45 days after the IIQA acceptance.
